Case story of Rajon Miah

After languishing in jail for 4 years and 8 months Rajon Miah was bailed out from incarceration with the help of Legal Aid to Helpless Prisoners.

Rajon Miah (21), son of Dulal Miah, hails from Shahibagh residential area of Moulvibazar District. He was arrested based on an allegation of stealing some items from a Mosque situated at Sonamiah Road of Srimangal district.

The F.I.R. of the case alleges that Rajon Miah between the hours of 10 pm and 2 am on 04.3.2011 and 05.03.2011 entered the quarter of Sonamia Road Mosque after breaking the lock on the door and ransacked the said the quarter. That, the informant of the said case was returning from a waaz mahfil at 2 am and when he arrived in front of the said quarter, he noticed the doors to the quarter locked and found out the accused Rajon Miah was ransacking the room. The informant then tried to seize the accused and started calling out for help but then Rajon Miah managed to escape from the informant by injuring him and fled the place of occurrence.

It was further alleged that Rajon Miah had broken the lock on the trunk of the informant and stolen tk. 255/- from it. Also, it was mentioned in the F.I.R. that, the said stolen money had been recovered from Rajon Miah and he was handed over to the police by the locals of the area.

Advocate Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman a panel lawyer of LAHP found out about Rajon Miah’s long incarceration of 4 years and 8 months. He also came to learn that Rajon Miah was arrested based on suspicion and thereafter, he was falsely implicated in the aforesaid case.
